When do you ask the Godparents?
I was just wondering when I should ask the the godparents to be Godparent's.

We are asking them after the baby is born. This is tough one for us because we are not having Godparents per se (we are not Catholic), we going to ask them to be the guardians of our child. We need to decide this before our baby dedication (like a christening for Protestants) which happens between 3-6 months old.

We waited until after the birth of each of our sons. I was just more comfortable with that.

With us it was a given that my sister and her husband would be Godparents to our 1st born since I was to theirs  We never really offically asked them but will just for the sake of asking

OMG I am having such a hard time with this already and I'm only 8 weeks lol. I have two brothers and two sisters and it bothers me so much that I am going to hurt someones feelings.

Well, it's my sister and her hubby, and they've known since before we got pregnant that it would be them for our first child. We call them the godparents all the time.

My sister asked me to be her baby's godmother right when she found out she was pregnant! We are really close though. She officially asked me again when the baby was born and she asked the godfather after she was born.

we waited til i was about 15 weeks or so. we asked 2 sets ... my dh's best friend and his wife and my best friend and her husband... we just couldn't wait anymore!

I only have one sister and DH has 2 so we knew my sister would be godmother. we asked her around 15 weeks. DH has 2 BIL's that he is close with and still hasnt decided which one - we are 24 weeks now. when he finally decides, we will ask :)

I gave my best friend a card on Mother's Day when I was only 12 weeks pregnant asking her to be the baby's godmother. We asked my BIL to be godfather at around 6 months pregnant.
With the adoption we are waiting until we have accepted a referal.

Our godparents were kinda just assumed. We didn't even have to formally ask them. My brother will be godfather, and my SIL, his wife who I was friends with even before they met, will be her godmother. I was about 6 months pg when we made it official.
