Re: teachers - how do you find schools that are hiring?
a lot of schools (most now) have websites. i would check the districts you are interested in and there is usually a button for "employment opportunities"
if you dont know the url, just do a search on the district.
good luck!

You can search the New York Times online to find current job openings or check The Week in Review (in the NYT) every Sunday. The ads will direct you how to contact them.

Re: teachers - how do you find schools that are hiring?
i agree with Miro- check the classified ads. The Times & Newsday. For both my teaching jobs, I sent a resume and cover letter to every school district I could find (easily over 50 each time). I found out the name of the Superintendant and addressed each personally (both on the cover letter an don teh envelope). Granted, I went a bit overboard, but got several interviews both times. I figured that even if a district wasn't hiring immediately, I wanted to be on their list/in their files. It was worth the cost of the stamp!
