Here are some things that I like are really important
Your own pillow
Your own towels
boppy pillow
if you are nursing- the # of a professional LC and a copy of The Nursing Mother's Companion Guide along with a pen and paper (to keep track of nursing sessions and wet/dirty diapers)
Underwear that you can throw out and nothing bikini because if you end up with surgery you don't want anything to touch your incision
VERY comfty clothes to go home in
Your own night gown/PJS ( I was not comfortable in hospital gowns after the 1st day)
Camera, film or digital camera w/extra batteries
little sign for the bassinet
extra shirt, underwear and socks for DH- you never know how long he could be there with you.
Shampoo/Conditioner/brush
makeup , if you wear it
Deodarant for you and DH
Contact sheet full of all phone numbers to call
Phone number of your chosen ped
going home outfit for baby
snacks for DH and for you while in the hospital
long distance calling card if you have family outside of the local telephone area

not sure if it applies but a pic of the "big brother/sister" for the bassinet....
