Could my prenatals be making me feel sick?
Last week at my midwife appt she prescribed a prenatal for me. It seems that since I have been taking it I feel a little queasy. I am not vomiting but I feel bloated and not right. Before the prenatal, though, I felt fine.
How long should I give it before I call her?
Anyone not take a prenatal vitamin?

Yes!!! Mine made me SO sick didn't matter if I took it before/during/after eating. I tried morning, noon, night. Nothing helped!! I hated those things!

Did you stop or keep taking them? I used to take a woman's daily multi-vitamin and I had no problems but this thing is wicked. I want to stop. I can't go six months like this. I made it through the first trimester with no morning sickness. I am surely not going to let these things ruin a beautiful experience.

I stopped taking mine in the beginning. THEN they prescribed Natelle EZ for me and they ROCK!! No more feeling sick!

Mine made me feel queasy, too, so I take mine right before I go to bed. I take it with a calcium supplement (or tums, if I have heartburn!) and some water. Works like a charm for me, I don't feel sick, and I sort of integrated taking my prenatal into my going to bed routine, so I don't forget to take it.

Yes, the only time I actually threw-up was when I took a different prenatal than my regular ones which are supposed to be gentle on the stomach.
BTW, which midwife are you using? I just switched to Stony Brook Midwives.
ETA: My doc told me if the prenatals make me sick I could take a Finstone vitamin and then supplement with folic acid. That might be a good thing for you to try.

Yes i had to go through two different ones before i found one that worked for me - Natafort.
Also, I got great advice from my cousin on this one. Take your prenatal right before bed. I used to burp up my prenatal for hours after i took it, but if i took it right before bed i had no issues. Plus having them on my nightstand makes me remember to take it.

Thanks for all of this feedback, ladies! It is great.
I did try taking them at night (I used to take my Pill at night for the same reason) but it didn't help. I just have an unsettled stomach and constipation feels even worse.
I will check with my midwife and see what she suggests.

Its normal. Make sure you are eating when it says to. Some vitamins are wierd. You have to eat an hour before taking them or right away....
Mine make me sick too...
Also, call your dr. and see if she would recommend you changing them. I also heard that Flinstones vitamins are almost the equivelant to prenatals...

I stopped taking mine during my first trimester, especially month 3 because my MS was so bad. I switched to Flintstones until I could stomach them again.

YES! Mine made me SO sick. I didn't take them for the majority of the pregnancy and when I did take them I would do it at night after a meal when the MS was not as severe.

As soon as I stopped taking my prenatals and started taking a Flinstone vitamin instead, my morning sickness went away. Coincidence? Hmmmmmmm

It definently could be the prenatals...I had to try a few of them before finding one that agreed with my stomach...I now take Prenate Elite

Defintiely - I only ever threw up after I took my prenatals. Then I too started taking Prenate elite and never had the problem again.
