Had my 20 week sono last night (with pic)...question about placenta previa

Even though technically I'm 21w 3d. The baby is just perfect!! It was so amazing to physically be able to count 10 fingers and 10 toes and see the 4 chambers of the heart working, truly a miracle!

The only thing they found is that I have a low lying placenta. They said it's no cause for worry at this point, that they will do another sono around 28 - 30 weeks to see if it's gotten any higher. Anyone have a low lying placenta that got higher over time?

With my first pregnancy I did. And yes, just as you said, my doc did another sono at 32 weeks and because the uterus grows, the placenta tends to shift with it. Mine did and there was no concern.

They found the same thing at my 20 week sonogram, and I'm going in 2 weeks to check on it. I'll let you know how it goes. I've read that in 90% of cases, the placenta rises on its own.

yep, i had a low lying placenta as well at my 20 week sono. by the next sono at 32 weeks it had moved up. its extremely common.

Yes, I had it and yes it got higher later on in the pregnancy.

This is very common at this stage during pregnancy i had a lot of my patients who had this. Even though this is very common it can be very scary too but hang in there because usually this changes in the third trimester.
