Lost fans re: bad twin
I know the book is a tie in with the show, but can they really falsify author information like this?
About the Author
Bad Twin is the highly-anticipated new novel by acclaimed mystery writer Gary Troup. Bad Twin was delivered to Hyperion just days before Troup boarded Oceanic Flight 815, which was lost in flight from Sydney, Australia to Los Angeles in September 2004. He remains missing and is presumed dead.

I think with those books, they just play into the whole 'aura' of the Lost experience... they allow you to totally engross yourself into the Lost world as if it were 'real'..
So I dont think its a falsification .. but definitely more "fantasy" like, as Shorty said (and we are NOT THE NEW TREKKIES MISSY  )

I mean they have SONG lyrics for Charlies band
sooo many things like that they create to make it more real

No, more like who the publisher paid to actually write the book. Maybe one of the writers of Lost?

Hmm.. I think its just a ghost writer then, and that you'll probably never really know who the writer of the book is  again . purely to keep up with the Lost mystique, as if an actually passenger from Flight 815 wrote the book

this was my assumption....
and that the writers create sites that have us believe this is real...when we all know it isn't

That's intersting. It is fine to use a pen name, but I'm curious as to how it will be listed by the Library of Congress.
The author bio is really just publicity info, for example the publisher wants to include that so & so is a Dr of whatever, so that there book has more weight, so in this case, they are using that space/opportunity as publicity, but by furthering the development of a fictional character, to tie in with the show more.
It would definitely lose some of the Lost mystique if it said:
Gary Troup is a pen name for John Doe who has ghost written other books such as. . . "
False autor bio info would be more of an issue with a non-fiction book.

This made me think of on "One Life to Live", a character there writes a book. The book is actually real - but when I looked it up on Amazon, it lists "Marcie Walsh" (the character) as the author, but then after it, the name of the real person who wrote it too.
I'm continually amazed at how far the creators of Lost go to make it seem real. It's crazy!!!! But I think it's so cool!!!
