Travel Systems, Snap and Gos....soooo confusing!

I am really confused with all of these travel systems and snap and gos and all that stuff.

Can I just get a medium weight stroller and a car seat? Can't you just take your baby out of the car seat and put them right into the stroller? That's what my mom used to do.

You can put the baby right from the car seat to the stroller, but in my experience when they are so little that they are in an infant seat they tend to fall asleep in them quickly, and I didn't want to wake her by moving her too much. I'd just pop the infant seat into the snap n go or the stroller and she kept on sleeping.

As to which to get, it's all preference. I wanted the infant seat to match the stroller, so I got a travel system. When she was still in the infant seat, I left the stroller in my house and used it for walks in the neighborhood. I left the snap n go in my trunk and used that when out shopping, it's a lot lighter (even though I have a Graco Metrolite) and it was easier for me to get in and out of the trunk.

Now I leave the Metrolite in the trunk all the time and use it shopping in the mall or for neighborhood walks, but shopping at stores like Target I put her right in the shopping cart. The stroller is getting a hard for me to get in and out of the trunk now that I'm getting further along in the pregnancy.

Thanks so much, Cathy....it makes much more sense to me now. But, I still don't know what I am going to do. I have some time, I know, but everyone knows that time flies, so I want to check out my options now.
