Is it possible for an OPK not to work?

I have been using an opk since AF left, and now is CD 14 and no surge. I wonder if since I am using it in the morning and they recommend after noon but say "FMU" may be used if that is why. I have all the other symptoms of about to "O" and actually have BD everyday so as not to take any chances. (Sorry if TMI). What do you think?

How long are your cycles usually?

My cycles have been between 23 and 25days, which I am not used to since I was on the pill for so long and stopped in May.

I am not sure about the FMU. Maybe someone can shed some light on that. I wonder if your cycle might be a little off this month, mine cycle seemed to be a little longer with the weather changes.

Most women do not ovulate cd 14. Only 10%. So if you are getting worried, that you haven't ovulated yet because you were "supposed' to...don't be. Give it time. :) I know it's hard.

I dont know I used it in the morning and it worked- meaning I got a surge. Also my stepsister did it first thing in the morning- got her surge, BD and got PG the first month of trying!Chat Icon

I have ovulated as late as CD 19 or 20, so it can be possible that you just haven't hit your 'surge' yet .. i'd keep using the OPKs and see what happens

When using the OPKs, do not use FMU .. take the test around noon or a bit later in the afternoon, its supposed to be more effective

And just a glimmer of hope - the month I got my BFP, I was convinced I had NOT ovulated at all, since I NEVER got a surge on the OPKs nor did I get a "peak" reading on my Clear Blue monitor.. (yes I am obsessive and used both the monitor AND regular OPKsChat Icon)

Sure enough, I just followed the pattern of my CF and we BDd a lot, and somehow it 'worked'

So ya never know . GL!
