Re: If you bought a gift for someone..

another: depends who it is.

There are some people, who I went far out of my way to get gifts from their registries that would Pizz me off.

If I was uncertain about a gift that I gave, I wouldn't be surpised to see them unload it.

No. If they didn't like it, they didn't like it and now they can get the money and buy something else they really want.

Like Suven said, if it was something off their registry, then yes, i would be very upset. If it was something else, then I wouldn't necessarily be upset since they might have it already or it could just not be in their taste.
If it was off their regisrty, I would know that they only registered for that item to get the money. For goodness sakes, they could just return it to the same store if they don't want it! Chat Icon

ditto...once you give the gift, they can do what they want with it. I'd prefer that then having it sit in the box unsued or wind up in the trash...that would be a total waste of money.

Yes.

I wouldn't get upset though if they told me before hand they were going to do it because they got doubles or whatever.

I agree. Once I give the gift - it's theirs to do what they want with it. Believe me, I have gotten some winners that I have given away!

Not trying to start drama, but why does it matter? I mean, would you really know if they did it behind your back or not? Or would you know if they were lying and telling you they got doubles? Just curious....

ETA: I guess I am just trying to picture a polite way to say, "by the way I want to sell your gift on EBay..."

I got a ton of gifts off my registry and returned probably half of them. I didn't register for them for the money, I registered because i thought i would use them. But now that we are in a new place finally using our stuff, I have returned a ton of it because A) we didn't have room for it, B) the colors didn't go with our place and C) because I just, in the grand scheme of things didn't have a use for it. I was able to buy other things with the money from all that stuff that I could actually use. I don't know about anyone else, but when I was registering, I went a little crazy with stuff that i just wanted and eventually realized once I had them, that I would never use them.

Hmmmm that's a good question.
I try hard not to give bad gifts so I would think I might be a little upset.

I'm sensitive about people returning my gifts because I usually put alot of thought into it. I guess I'd appreciate the explanation. You're right though, I probably wouldn't know if it was done behind my back. But if I found out, I'd be upset. And I think that's what she was asking...if you found out.

But yeah, I agree...I don't think there's a nice way to say "I put your gift on ebay and I already got 3 bids!" Chat Icon
