Anyone's kids have Heelys ?

MY son is obsessed with these! HE's not even 4, so I dont know what sizes they come in.
i would assume theyre for bigger kids, for safety reasons Chat Icon

My step-daughter is 10....she wants them, but DH and I agree that she's not getting them. I think they are silly to roll around instead of walking...also dangerous.

Re: Anyone's kids have Heelys ?

I cannot stand these shoes!!!

PLEASE, if you buy these for your kids, have more consideration than other parents I have seen. Rollerskates are for OUTDOOR use. I was in a nice restaurant when a kid kept skating back and forth on the wood floor and the parents never stopped him. Are these kids too lazy to walk on their own two feet? These things kill me....

Sorry to vent on your post - but I had to get that out.....

Oh the things they come out with.

You can tell me to mind my own business but I wouldn't...He's still too young and god forbid he hurts himself...

Re: Anyone's kids have Heelys ?

My nephew has them. He's 6 and he's taken a couple nasty spills on them, even though he is very athletic and plays hockey, etc.

They are a terrible invention in my mind and I recently read an article that say they are giving kids tendon problems because of the way they have to position their feet and legs to make them go.

I guess I'm in the minority but I think they are really cool. I got a pair for my little sister (6).

Ladies no offense taken at aLL !! Chat Icon

I agree that they are dangerous and a bit crazy, but they are kinda cute in their ownway.

My son is too quick on his own feet, Id be paranoid if he had these. and if he did he wouldnt wear them just anywhere. Jsut the fact that they can roll into anything in sight, Chat Icon Chat Icon I agree, there should be etiquette about it too !

Id rather buy him rollerskates and take him to the rink Chat Icon

Re: Anyone's kids have Heelys ?

I think I am getting old but I think these are the worst invention EVER.

They are banned in my mall yet the kids insist on wheeling around when they think they can get away with it and practically knocking people over.

I only know one kid who is 10 that has them and no comment.

Rollerskates are a better idea. That way you are there supervising him and making sure he doesn't get hurt...Chat Icon

Re: Anyone's kids have Heelys ?

I dont like those things and last weekend proved to me more. I was in the woodbridge mall (NJ) and this kid maybe around 8 or so wa running so fast and then used his heely well he fell, hard, really hard before he got up there was a pool of blood. He hit his mouth so hard that a few of his teeth broke and 2 of them were coming through right under his lip.

PLEASE consider this before you buy them for your kids Chat Icon
