C-section moms...

I was just offered a stay at home position for more money then I was making at my old job. I have 1 problem. He needs me to start 2 weeks after the baby is born.

I am having a c-section and I am going to try and BF. I am nervous to say yes. How long does it take to recover?

Is 2 weeks enough time? Granted I will be working from home.

Is it a full or part-time position? Is the time flexible - are you allowed to do the work at any point during the day or do you have to do the work between 9-5?

My only concern is that you will probably want to sleep whenever the baby does, since you will be recovering from the c-section, BFing, etc. I was really out of it and not thinking straight the first couple of weeks after Shane was born.

If the work hours are flexible though, it might be doable.

I can work whatever hours I want. Day or night. nd it really not PT or FT. It is whenever I can get the work done that is given to me.

I would def. do it....

Esp. if it meant in the long run- Id be able to stay home with my child, and make more money than I was making to begin with....

As long as this job isnt physical labor- I think you'll be fine (exhausted- but fine)

I think I am going to say Yes. If it doesn't work out I can always just tell him then. But I will kick myself if I don't take it and I have to go back to a "real" job.Chat Icon

Re: C-section moms...

I'd probably say yes too, but I will be honest and say the first week or two working may be hard. I didn't start to feel really good until after 2 wks, when I was off the pain meds and able to move around a bit more.

But I totally agree it sounds like a great opportunity. If you were to be working outside the home I'd say 2 wks is def. not long enough time to heal, but home, hopefully you can manage comfortably.

Re: C-section moms...

I would definitely take it. Every person is different, but it took me about two weeks to even be able to walk without pain and medication, maybe a little longer. My son was up every two hours at night also which was really hard, but if you can work any hours, then you can still take naps and work. Since an infant only eats and sleeps I am sure you can squeeze work time in your day.

i'm not 2 weeks pp and I feel great. I move a little slow, but i can do everything i could do before. If your job is a desk job or not physically demanding, i would go for it.

I think that's a good decision. It will be hard at first, but you'll realize how worth it it is in the long run.

I would say it took about 2-3 weeks before I felt back to myself after the c/s. But given this opportunity to work from home I think you should go for it! It will be hard at first but worth it in the end.

It may be a little rough in the beginning, but I think in the long run it's worth it.

I agreed to go back to work after 6 weeks because my employer allows me to work from home 2 days a week.
