Christmas Dinner

What do you usually have/make. I'm hosting it this year & I really don't want to do turkey.

Re: Christmas Dinner

When I was younger my family always made ham.

Recently with DH family its usually both ham and a turkey.

I would probably try any type of roast - pork, beef, or lamb. With the usual veg, corn and green beans and mashed pototoes, etc.

T, for your group why not get a few Filet Mignons? You can buy it whole and have the butcher cut it. The one on Covert Ave is great.

Re: Christmas Dinner

Last year was the first time I hosted Christmas and we had 25 people. I started with homemade chicken soup, then we had the following:
Rib roast
Turkey
Lasanga my MIL made
Eggplant Parm my mom made
Roasted potatos
Sauteed vegatables
Sourkaurt with pork saugage my DH grandfather made
Salad
I think that was it. I have a habit of making to much food when I host anything but I rather have left overs than have people leave hungry. Since you two new additions I would recommend stuff that you can prepare the night before and just either assembe or cook the day of, that is what I did and I saved alot of time. I also recommend making things that doesn't need alot of your attention.
