Granite counter tops
For those of you who have granite counter tops how do you clean them? We where told by the contractor that we could use windex but then someone else told us no. So I am not sure what we should use.
Thanks.

Re: Granite counter tops
I don't use windex or any other harsh products like that b/c the granite is porous and will soak up the chemicals which makes it unsafe to handle food on the surface.
Pledge makes wipes that are safe for granite (in blue package) that I use for quick clean up. I got a bottle of solution from Bed, Bath and Beyond that is for marble and granite and says it is safe for all porous surfaces. This is what I use to do good weekly cleanings.

Re: Granite counter tops
dh's father used to be in the marble business for many years and there is nothing wrong with using windex or something like that on the counter tops. dh's parents house has granite counter tops and table tops and they have used windex for years. never any problems.

Believe it or not, water seems to work fine for us. I know they sell special chemicals in Home Depot.

Re: Granite counter tops
We use ammonia free products like glass plus for quick cleanups and soap and water to really disinfect.
