WOW! I never heard of butter - I've always used mayo!

My logic...if I were to make a sandwich with cheese, I would reach for the mayo NOT the butter. Butter just seems super greasy and -sorry- kinda gross. Chat Icon

Grilled cheese is supposed ot be greasy! Chat Icon

See, l I agree, I'd reach for may if it were just a chese sandwhich, but If I were frying soemthing, I'd reach for butter, which is why I always do it that way.

I've never heard of the mayo way, But I'd be willing to try it.

Re: Grilled Cheese

Ewww - warm mayo sounds super gross...especially considering that I really don't like mayo to begin with. The mayo gets totally absorbed by the bread (at least the way I make it) - you definitely do not taste warm mayo.

I agree, with the warm mayo- Chat Icon ( the reason I'm anti tuna melts) but I think it would melt into the bread & not seem like warm mayo.
I use mayo on baked breaded chicken cutlets & it doesn't bother me at all.

I have never heard of doing it with mayo - I am intrigued.

My mommy used to put mustard and tomatoes in mine.

YES - I urge you too! Gets crispy and is just so yum! Way easier to spread than butter...and just put it on the outside.

I cannot believe more people don't use mayo - I'm glad I'm not alone though Chat Icon

Well I have always used butter, NEVER heard of using mayo and a while ago I may have thought that it would be gross, but.... when I first heard of using mayo for that parm. chicken recipe I thought it sounded gross. Well after making it I saw how delish it was. So I will be trying mayo next time I make a grilled cheese! ThanksChat Icon
