I think I did a terrible thing last night

They say mothers know best and I'm kicking myself for not standing my ground....

DH's grandmother is in the hospital - nothing life threatening, but she's been in there awhile and MIL has said it would be nice to visit and bring Joseph blah blah blah.... Well, I always said no - IMO there's no reason for a baby to be go a-visiting in a hospital. Well, DH was going last nigh to visit - she got moved to the REHAB floor - I said I'd take a ride to give him a nap and wait in the lobby or in the car. Long story short - he cajoled me into bringing the baby up ("She's only in Rehab honey, no sick people there") and well, I gave in. He slept in his stroller the whole time we were there, but 1/2 hr into our visit MIL & FIL tell me grandma's roommate was moved last week because she had an INFECTIOUS DISEASE AND COULDN'T BE AROUND PEOPLE!!!!!!!!!!!Chat Icon And you don't mention that WHEN YOU SEE ME BRINGING YOUR GRANDSON UP??? Needless to say weleft that minute and I cried the whole way home.

Do you think I have reason to worry about him or should I just be pi$$ed at the IL's???

I'm sure he is fine, but of course there is always that what if. Just keep an eye on him. I would be totally ****** at DH though for making you bring him to the hospital - rehab or not, I personally feel a baby should not be around that environment. I'm surprised they let you bring a baby in anyway. Don't be upset, just stand strong next time! Chat Icon

i dont think you should worry. if the woman was moved last week, they have definitly disenfected the room by now. so dont worry. but as the other posters said, just watch him, it cant hurt.

Re: I think I did a terrible thing last night

im sure he will be fine....the only thing he could have caught would have had to be airborne....and I'm sure no airborne bacteria were still in the room from that patient. as long as no one touched things in the hospital and then him without washing hands, he will be fine....don't sweat the small stuff! And I'm sure your IL's would never intentionally do anything to harm your DS, they probably just had other things on their mind.

I agree with you though, babies don't belong in hospitals.

FH works in a hospital and he said if that were the case the room would be sterilized that same hour, so there wouldn't be any germs. I can understand your concern though!
