if your baby is eating strictly finger foods and formula (milk) can you help me.

I brought Talia to the dr. today - because she is still refusing baby food the dr. said to feed her finger foods (table food) now if that is what she wants (she is doing great on cheerios!)

So if you are feeding table food - can you give me an idea on what you give your child when - and how much.

also - do you feed the babies whole wheat - like bread and pancakes - and brown rice?? or do you stick to white?

what is the most nutricious for them? (all of a sudden I feel clueless when it comes to food)

I'm right with you....totally clueless. I just got back from the Dr. and he said to hold off on wheat till 1 year. (he said he recommeded that for all babies...not just ones with allergies)

So far the only thing I've given her are rice puffs, sweet potato and banana.

Planning on giving soon...
string beans
peas
avacado
pancakes
pasta

stopped giving...
gerber veggie puffs
cheerios
(both have wheat and something was bothering her so I just stopped both of these and now she's back to normal)

The Super Baby Food book is great.

Avacodo is a great food to give her. it is soft, super full of nutrition, great brain food and easy to give her- just peel and cut.

Green beans, sweet potatoes are two other wonderful things to add to her diet. Both very healthy and easy to prepare.

Will she eat yogurt? Molly has always loved it. I get the StonyField Baby yogurt in the 6-pk.

I second the Baby Food Book mentioned above.

Im not sure how old your little on is, but my guy loves the following:

Mango, papaya, strawberries, avacado, green and red pepper strips, banannas, and kiwi.

I put blueberries and grapes in the self feeder bags.

He also went through a carb faze...I would buy whole grain bagels and cut them up into litttle hand size pieces, leave themout for a day or 2 to harden, and then he would chop on them for a good while :)

Julia is refusing to eat baby food also. I've been giving her pancakes, waffles, mini muffins, rice, shredded chicken, carrots (stage 3) mashed potatos. I just bought her the stage 3 pasta meals so far she likes them. She goes to the doctor next week, so I'm also going to ask when I can start to wean her from BF, and onto milk. It can be very confusing, my sister has 2 kids so I'm just going by what she says.

Emily doesn't like much of the baby foods except for ones that contain bananas but she can't have them at EVERY meal so we are trying some other options. None of these are by recommendation by the doc but she did say at 6 months that we can start taking our table food and putting it in a blender for her so I'm thinking a lot of it is okay.

I cook up some baby carrots and give her tiny pieces of them -- about the size of her thumb nail. She can eat about 3-4 baby carrots at a time.

Little chunks of potatoes
Avacados -- LOVES them
Tiny pieces of string beans
Rice
Tiny pieces of chicken

whole cucmber spears just to **** on mostly with the seeds removed...

I'm trying to think of what else!!!

the thing is - I can't put anything in a blender - or mash it up - she won't eat it that way - she only wants foods she can chew.

So how small do I cut them up - she has no teeth?!

You cut them up small enough that she can mash them with her gums & swallow them.

We introduced baby food late (like 8mos). Things that were a big hit were: carrots, green beans, avocados, lentils (full of protein - I can get the recipe from my mom if you want).

Mallory was the same way!! She was little Miss Independent, only wanting to feed herself... she ate banana cut up small, cooked sweet potato, steamed carrots, whole wheat bread, cooked apple cut up... she did really well with all that even though she had NO teeth Chat Icon
