ING savings account
I know there have been posts about this before...but who has opened this? Is there a catch as to how long the money has to stay in the account? How do you like it?

No catch. We love it! We invest in stocks and other stuff but if we need $$ in a savings account that needs to stay liquid, we put it in ING.

No catch. ING is def. a legitimate company. If you go on their website they explain it all. The longer you lock up your money the higher return. I would def. recommend it.

I read that you can set it up to take the money directly from your checking account. So, there is no minimum amount you have to keep in there and no set amount of time? I just feel like I am missing something?

Yes, I have it take money out of my checking account automatically every Monday (want to give time for my work check to clear) The only thing to think of is that you shouldn't make this your primary way of saving because if you need the money you can't get to ASAP, you have to wait a few days while you transfer the money from your ING into your checking account.

We have an ING account and love it. There is no catch at all. The money just isn't as liquid as it would be in your regular bank savings account (takes a few days for it to transfer). However, the interest you earn in it is so much better than any other savings account. I highly recommend it!

I'm glad this was posted again because I've been wanting to open an ING account since my bank is a credit union and we don't really earn ANYTHING back on our savings. I like the idea of the money not being available to us right away since it will just be extra savings for us.

You should look into the HSBC Online account too. It works like ING and at the time we opened it the interest rate was higher than on ING.

I believe you need a checking account - but it does NOT have to be with them. We have an internet account with them we got 4.80% until end of April 06 - and now it is at 4.50%.
They give you an ATM card with the account -
