My daughter is just starting solids. Is one brand better than the others? Is "organic" meaningful or are they all so tightly regulated that its just marketing?

My doctor said that there's no difference between brands. He said to get whichever I had a coupon for or was on sale that week.

He said that if I really felt strongly about organic food, I could get it, but he is very comfortable with the regular ones.

Sarah's had the cereal, fruit & veggies from both Gerber (regular and organic) and Beechnut and eats them all with the same level of success. I've never tried that Nature's Best or Earth's Best or whatever it's called.

For me - I read the labels. I have mostly stuck with beechnut and nature's best. I use Gerbers I read labels (stage 1 were fine).

I found that some Gerbers (stage 2 mixtures) had some added ingredients that I felt wasn't necessary for a 5/6 mo old baby just trying out foods - such as onion and garlic powder, tomato paste (dr said to avoid tomatos at this age), etc. I guess things to add flaver but since my baby loves jarred food without those things - I felt that those add-ons were unnecessary.

For the Stage 2 meats I ONLY give her the Gerber Simple Recipe, which have only the 2 ingredients it's named on it. THey have Chicken & Broccoli, Beef & Carrots, Chicken & Apples, Chicken & Pears, Turkey & Sweet Potatos and Ham & Apples.

We use beechnut too... because I saw a few extra ingredients in Gerber that weren't necessary....
