Re: Is Zoloft bad for TTC?

I would think so. I took paxil for a little while, and my doctors said that while no studies have been done to prove that it's bad, it's highly recommended that you don't take anti-depressants while pg. My cousin is bipolar, and she was on meds. She didn't know she was pg until she was 3 or 4 months. We just found out that her baby is 80% blind. There's no proof that this is due to the meds she was on, but we all can't help but wonder.

the medicines for Bipolar are very different than Zoloft and much more teratogenic. Until about 6 months ago all the SSRIs were classified as safe. So now its a little iffy. I believe Zoloft still is in the safe category, and I think only Paxil has been upgraded.

You should talk to your MD about it

Re: Is Zoloft bad for TTC?

I currenlty take Zoloft..we switched because I was on paxil and its now a class D drug while PG, not safe....Zoloft is a class B drug, the same as tylenol. There are safe anti depressants to take when PG..but I would dicuss any meds with a DR before continuing or starting them.

My Dr's saw nothing wrong with taking the Zoloft.

I was taking Celexa while TTC and then when I got a BFP, I stopped immediately. The doctor said that it was fine!

Re: Is Zoloft bad for TTC?

I thought Zoloft and most other SSRIs are now Class C, probably a scare from Paxil.

Either way, if you need it, your need it. Just have a plan with your doctor for when you do get PG.

Re: Is Zoloft bad for TTC?

My SIL was on paxil when she conceived and her daughter has a few problems...vision/she needed glasses at 1 yr old, and now at 4 yrs old she is still a tiny thing. The 2nd child, is in perfect health and there were no meds involved.

I was on zoloft and celexa (not at the same time), and I just got FAT!
anyone else? and now, I can't get rid of it!
