Job application question...

I was thinking of applying for a County job here in NC, but they have the most annoying application you have to fill out. Besides a regular app., you also have to fill out a Clerical application as well.

On the Clerical application, they ask for the # of years/# of months experience for Typing. Then a list below it that they want you to check off for what tasks you have performed as far as typing is concerned. So my question is, is if I have 10 years experience typing, but go ahead and check off the tasks I have done, but they are not 10 years experience in each one, maybe they were done at different jobs at different times throughout the 10 years. Is this considered lying? They don't leave a space for how many years experience in each item, just the years experience for Typing in general??? I'm really confused? What do you think? Thanks!

Re: Job application question...

I would think it's how many years of typing in general and how many tasks you have done in the 10 years.

For example I've done 10 years of typing however only have 1 year of Lotus Notes, 10 years of Word, 9 years of outlook, 9 years of excel experience and 9 years of powerpoint experience, no experience in Quickbooks, and I also have 1 year of Apollo (which is the global distribution system for booking travel) etc...

So all my tasks would include: Lotus notes, word, power point, excel and apollo.

So all my tasks dont total 10 years but in the course of 10 years I have experience in the mentioned tasks.

I hope that makes sense. Sorry if it's even more confussing.

Re: Job application question...

That's what I thought. I just wasn't sure. It looks like a lot of experience when you look at it as 10 years, etc., but when you break it down, it might be less in certain things. I just didn't want to be filling this out and they call me and expect me to have tons of experience when in reality I have 10 years typing experience but only maybe a few years typing correspondence.

Anyway, thanks!!! Chat Icon
