I hear conflicting things on how good/or bad this district is..

Anyone know anything about it?
Thanks

Re: Sachem School District

IMO it is a good SD. It is VERY large though and that can be a neg for some (it is for me). And they are constantly trying to get these outrageous tax increases which bothers me greatly. But if i found a house i really liked in that SD, Sachem wouldn't be a neg factor to me

Having gone through the sachem school district I can give you two sides of the coin here.

Good schools, probably one of the best around. High taxes in the areas that it covers. Very big, however they have restructed and made changes so the schools were made a bit smaller. The one thing I remember was because it was so big, you got lost and blended.

We are in it and I hear the same thing. It's good but big. Definately better than some of the surrounding school districts though......

Re: Sachem School District

Its not the size of the buildings its the size of the classroom....
If there are to many kids in a class I wouldnt be happy.
I think this might be why some ppl have told me it wasnt good.. because of the size of the classes.

Thanks for the responses

the other thing I think may affect it is where you are looking. Sachem covers alot of areas, what town would you be looking into?

well i believe they opened another school to reduce class sizes...which is why they wanted such a high tax increase...

Buti am not 100% sure.
