I just made some last week and did it a different way than I usually do and they came out great.

Put eggs in pot and cover with water, bring to boil. Cover and take off heat, let sit for 18 minutes...don't peek. Pour out hot water and add cold, repeat.

Lay eggs on bottom of the pot
Cover with water so it's an inch over the eggs

Put on high heat and bring to a rapid boil
Boil for 12 minutes

Remove from heat

Remove the eggs immediately from the pot and run them under cold water until you can pick them out of the water without burning your hands.

I had this same discussion on a different message board. It was amazing how many different ways there were! This is what I do.

Put eggs in pot, cover with water. Bring to a boil, uncovered. Once the water boils, turn off heat, cover and let stand for 20 minutes. After 20 minutes, run cold water into the pot until you can handle them.

bring 4-6 cups of water to a rolling boil, add 1 or 2 eggs. Let eggs sit in the water for 15 minutes.

After boiling, immerse eggs in cold water for a few seconds. On a papertowl roll the egg while applying slight pressure. The egg will crack - remove the shell. Wash the shell-less egg.
