Situation with neighbor and their dog

Our neighbor (who rent), keep letting their dog poop all over our front lawn and the sidewalk in front of our house. They dont clean it up, and its really annoying. Does anyone know if there is a law against this? Or does anyone have any suggestions on how to make them stop? I kinda dont want to like go next door and ring the doorbell- I dont want it to be akward, cuz obviously, we have to live next door to them- and I would be worried about possible retaliation. TIA!

Re: Situation with neighbor and their dog

Some places have signs posted through out the neighborhood about curbing your dog or paying a fine. It is very rude and I would say somthing maybe to the landlord.

I'm pretty sure here is a law against this. If you dont want a face to face confrontation, maybe you can send them a letter and politely state the issue? Honestly, there's not easy way of handling it without it being awkward but they shouldnt have put you in this position!

Liz - I have a dog and I would do this. They should pick up after their dog! We had this problem too before we moved and my DH left it in a bag on the doorstep of our neighbor with a note that read "your dog left this at my house. I am sure this was just an oversight on your part and I am confident this will not happen again. Have a nice day. Signed, your neighbor". DH really wanted to light it on fire too, but I stopped him. Re: Situation with neighbor and their dog

LOL I like that Chat Icon That is so funny.

I have a similiar situation. I've been catching my neighbor walk her dog in front of my house and letting her dachsund pee and poop on our sidewalk grass (near the curb). We don't even let Casey pee or poop there. I think it has to do with the fact that our house was empty for about 2 years before we bought it so her dog was used to going here...but come on, we live here now and take good care of the lawn! In fact I embarrassed her one day by walking out of my house and catching her in the act. I didnt say anything bc she did pick up after the dog but I think she could tell I was annoyed. If I catch it again, esp if the dog is peeing, I WILL say something....my DH works very hard to maintain the lawn. I'll say it in a nice way...but I feel like I have to say it.

I would be livid!! I am not sure what you can do legally...but it does remind me of Jim Carey in me, myself and Irene, where he gets tired of his neighbor doing this and goes out on morning and takes a sh!t on his lawnChat Icon

Re: Situation with neighbor and their dog

It is against the law and they can be fined.
If you really wanted you could call the police i guess..

But i like the picking it up and leaving it on their door step much better..

Say, in the note, that next time you make a call

It is against the law depending where you live.
In the city, you'd definitely get fined.
If I were you, I'd buy a sign.."Please curb your dog" and put it in a place visible where this tenant takes his/her dog. If this doesn't work, then I'd approach the landord and explain what has been happening.
I think this sign will definitely give them the message you are trying to convey....Chat Icon
No Dog Poop Yard Sign
The "No Dog Poop" yard signs are humorous but gentle reminder to all neighborhood dog walkers. This sturdy pre-treated wood sign will with-stand the elements as well go easily into the ground. and stand guard in all those defenseless yards! Measures 13.5" x13.5"

For some reason, I can't post the picture. I will post the link. I think this sign is perfect for what you are trying to do and it's not that expensive.

Here is the link

Re: Situation with neighbor and their dog

This reminds me of what happened with my mom. An old naighbor used to let thier dog do this.. so she picked up the poop with a paper towel, walked over to his house, and handed it back to him... he never brought his dog to poop on our lawn again!!!
