Slow cooker question

Can I use my slow cooker to keep things warm? Like a chafing dish?

I am thinking of having a brunch at my apt, but due to lack of space and small children walking around, I was thinking I could keep pancakes or eggs warm in my slow cooker, on the low setting. Has anyone ever tried this, and did it work out? TIA!

Re: Slow cooker question

I have used it to keep liquid things warm but never for other things. Im not sure if it would keep it hot and not burn.

Re: Slow cooker question

Thanks for answering Lisa Chat Icon

I was thinking of maybe putting something in the bottom, and place the food on top of that, so it wouldn't be in direct contact with the heating unit. I'll let you know if I try it Chat Icon

I have done that, I made sweet and sour meatballs for a party and put the crockpot out buffet style, they won't burn in the slowcooker as the heat is so gentle

Re: Slow cooker question

there should be a warm setting on your crockpot...I would make sure its really hot before putting it on warm, and keep it covered as much as you can!
