How does it work? Do you still have to pump? or does it just "dry" up? I'm obviously clueless.

TIA

I didnt. I bound my breasts for a few days. It was kind of painful. You will still get some milk, so get the breast pads, ice packs help too.

I didn't. About 4 days after you give birth, your milk comes in, so if you don't plan on nursing, you need to wear a snug sports bra, nursing pads because you'll leak (you can buy them at BRU) and when you take a shower, turn backwards because the warm water on your chest will make you leak more.
You need to do this for a few days to let your milk dry up. You may need to use ice packs because your boobs will feel like someone was using them as punching bags Chat Icon

I used frozen veggies! and had very minimal leaking. I also made sure when I showered not to face the water.

I didnt and this time the milk came in in the hospital and they were so painful. I looked like Pamela Anderson LOL. I had ice packs in my bra. They suggest you use ice packs, a tight sports bra and dont let the hot water hit them in the shower. It causes the milk to let down and will prolong the engorgement. A day or 2 of this and it will ease up. Definitely dont pump if you are not BF, that will also prolong it since your body will continue to produce more milk.

My first daughter, my milk did not come in so i couldn't BF. With Peyton, it came in and it hurt a little and I just ignored it and after a few days, it went away. However, when my sister was pregnant, she said hers came in and it was so painful, the nurse told her to buy cabbage. Apparently it helps dry them up quicker. So after you come home, send the husband out for some cabbage.

The cabbage thing is true...savoy cabbage is the best! I used it lots in my first few days of expressing because my bosoms were full of bosoms milk!!!

I chose not to BF at all but did pump for the 1st mo. Gave DD (1-2 bottles of my EMB and the rest was formula). Once i stopped pumping my BB's still leaked for a couple of weeks until they finally dried up.

Thanks ladiesChat Icon Hmmmm I have nightmares about cabbage so I may have to suffer!!! I'm still torn between pumping for awhile or just skipping it all together. I guess I still have plenty of time to decide.
