STAR - Update
at 11:30 this morning i realized that today was the last day to apply for star. i got all my paperwork together (star application, title, utility bill, mortgage statement and tax bill) and rushed over to town hall (smithtown) w/ a coffee and a book in tow fully expecting to have to wait for at least an hour. i opened the door to the office and was SHOCKED to see only 1 person on line. i waited less than a minute and was called to the counter. i opened my folder ready to submit all the paperwork and was told that all that was needed was the completed application. she reviewed it, stamped it, made me copy and i was out there door in less than 5 minutes.

Re: STAR - Update
I had the EXACT same experience in Huntington! I took the day off from work, expecting to be on line forever, and when I got there the office was empty - I was the only one on line! I was in and out in 3 minutes. I came armed with tons of paperwork, copies of ID, etc. and all they needed was the application. It was the most pleasant bureaucratic experience!

LMAO! Told you!! It was ridiculous! DH took the day off to come with me b/c when I called they said if you are a new homeowner they like you both to come down. The lady didn't even second glance him! Stamp, stamp, stamp, goodbye!
We were there less than 5 minutes.
