Teething at 3 months?

Is it possible?
When I picked Emma up from the sitter last night she told me that she thinks Emma could be teething because she is drooling SO much (her outfit had to be changed), and keeps jamming her fists in her mouth.

Yes. Alex started at around 3 months as well and her first tooth popped out at about 4 months Chat Icon

WOW!!!!
Besides a teething ring (that she really can't hold well on her own) is there anything I can do for her?

my daughter also started teething at 3 months, and I would hold the teething ring for her and she would chomp away, on especially cranky days I would give her half of her dose of tylenol to take some of the pain away, and also frozen wet washcloths to chew on. She seemed to be able to hole them better than the rings.

Frozen wet wash cloths - That's a good idea. Thank you!

Re: Teething at 3 months?

Alex never took to anything - we tried teething rings, frozen washcloths, even a frozen banana (it was hysterical - she nibbled on it until it warmed up and started eating the banana! Chat Icon My little porker Chat Icon ). On the nights it was particularly bad, I gave her some tylenol, though I've heard Motrin is more effective and lasts longer. I also let her chomp down on my (clean) knuckle. She really liked that...

Yep. they sure can. Although you may or may not see a tooth for many months.

I did the wet wash clothes too and they were great. My kids didn't like those teething rings. If anything, it hurt them.

Do you think that teething would cause her to wake in the middle of the night crying? It's a different kind of cry - not like a hunger pain cry. I feel so stupid that I can't figure out what's bothering her. I'm not doing anything differently.

Yup. For the 5 days before the tooth erupted, Alex was a mess, crying every hour or so during the night. Then the tooth erupted. Then, again, she started having sleep problems. Daycare even called me because they thought she may be sick because she felt warm, was cranky all day and just wanted to cuddle the whole time. The very next day Tooth #2 came out. Don't feel bad - I was just as clueless Chat Icon

Emma's sitter said that yesterday she was very clingy and didn't want to be put down all day.

Re: Teething at 3 months?

My son supposedly was teething at 3 months and at 13 months we are still waiting for the 1st tooth. He was excessively drooling and jamming in his fist in his mouth, musy poops. My dr was sure one would pop thru soon. Poor kid has been teething forever but the pain must come and go because he has good and bad days. He never liked teething rings, wash clothes or anything like that. Now that he is older he likes bagels, italian bread, or other hard foods like that. Also is very fond of my expensive living room guest chairs!!

Re: Teething at 3 months?

I brought Emily to the Dr at around 2.5 months because I thought she was sick and the DR walked in and said "It looks like she's teething!"

Yet she's 5 months now and no tooth yet! It's a LOOOONG process and for some babies it starts really early.

In another month or so she should get better at holding a teething ring. Even just rattles with textures help a lot. Sassy makes a lot of good hand toys/rattles that Emily loves to chew on. We get them at Target -- they have a whole bunch of them.

Aly has these too but the Dr said they are gum cysts, not tooth buds

Thanks Melissa - I'm going to stop at Target and pick up a few things for her - even if she can't hold it on her own.

Just when she started to sleep thru the night - The last 2 weeks have been hell. She keeps waking up crying in her sleep. I have a doctors appointment on Saturday, so we'll see.
