Thinking about planning a short 4 day trip for New Years
I am sick of always doing the same things for New Years here on LI... I was thinking about going somewhere maybe Thurs or Fri through Monday. Any ideas of a place that might be fun? We don't mind flying, but it would have to be a direct flight from Islip.

Maybe a ski trip in Vermont - rent a log cabin with a fireplace and jacuzzi!
Or, if you want warmer Scottsdale, AZ or Vegas.

Re: Thinking about planning a short 4 day trip for New Years
One Year DH & I went to Lake Placid for New Years, we went for a nice dinner and then back to our room to ring in the New Year alone near the fire. It was nice.
We went for 5 days and went snow shoeing up to Marcy Dam, snow mobiling around Saranac Lake, skiing on White Face Mountain (Olympics were held there), Dog sledding on Mirror Lake, window shopping on Main Street. It was a really nice couple of days.
I highly reccomend Nicola's on Main for dinner one night, also the Hungry Trout in Wilmington (closer to Whiteface) and for good bar food RF MacDougall's, which is downstairs from the Hungry Trout.

Re: Thinking about planning a short 4 day trip for New Years
Thanks for the replies. We actually decided to stay home for New Years and convinced all our friends to go out for once instead of a house party that we usuall do. I will have to save this advice for our next trip!
