Those with Divorced parents....

Do any of you have a sibling who favors one parent ?

I will make this as short as possible.. my sister is all about my dad being right and my mom being the bad guy even at 35 years old.Anyway we were out to dinner me my mom sister and bil and me and my sister had no cash on us and the place idnt take credit cards so my mom said" I dont know i always have money so they didnt get it from me maybe they got it form their dad?"

My sister flips out, doesnt say much but her facial expressions say enoiugh.

I tried to explain it was joke like you have two parents if you didnt get it from me you go it form your dad.She takes ANYTHING my mom says to heart and cant stand for her to even mention my dads name.. Meanwhile he is not this perfect perosn she thinks he is in her fantasy world that she lives in.. Ok vent over..
Just wondering am i alone?

my sis and I don't favor one over the other, we just get along/can deal with/tolerate/etc our father. My mom is annoying/clueless/self centered/narcissistic/mentally unstable.

Re: Those with Divorced parents....

i think your sister is obviously protective of your dad..

did you mom leave your dad? If so then it could be the root of all of the anamosity/protectivenes/favoring..

When one parent leaves the other, initiates the divorce...they have a tendency to be seen as the "bad one"

I felt it for a while when my parents split

ETA...i kinda think your moms comment was a passive aggressive diss at your dad too...and kinda uncalled for....but that is just me

Re: Those with Divorced parents....

It's weird. My ex-bestrfriend always favors her Dad. It's like he can do no wrong, even though he can and does. BUT, when she had surgery a couple of yrs ago, and she was under certain drugs, certain things came out. She said things about her father and to her father, but doesn't remember any of it.

She has two loving parents but so much chaos in her childhood, that I think it really messed her up as an adult. She always favor her Dad, but I think deep down inside she is mad as hell at him.

No actually he left my mom or his ex girlfriend when i was SIX MONTHS OLD and she was Six years old so NO she should have any resent ment towards her for that. i agree if that was teh case it would be moe understandable.. she is just so blinded by him its ridulous.

Re: Those with Divorced parents....

I definitely favor my mom over my dad, but she is my best friend and I am not close to my dad at all.

well then i dunno....
Maybe she has abandonment issues and is looking for ways to win your dads love?

Either way it is something. And although i do not particularly care for the comment made...It really does sound like something is hurting your sister...For her to react so sensitively....

I def think something is there and i don't know if it is just easily said that she "favors" your dad..
