I've gotten great gowns from Jessica McClintock, but I did have to go to the store in paramus to see the bigger selecetion. Roosevelt field doens't have a lot of sizes, but paramus had tons, so I ended up buying 2 dresses there to wear for the 4 upcoming weddings I had.

I have found nice things at Lord & Taylor and Estelle's Dressy Dresses.
On line I got my wedding dress from Spiegel.
I haven't been able to find larger sizes in the dressy dresses at Macy's. Tons of sportswear and casual, but not elegant dresses.

These are smaller places, but I have recently seen dressy dresses in each of them that were pretty nice, and they all have plus sizes..Fashion Bug, Dress Barn and Rainbow!! I have always found something at Estelles. Good Luck!!

Thanks girls. I got a dress at Macys today that I think looks OK. I hate showing my arms but I have relaized anything with sleeves is really frumpy. So I bought a sleeveless dress and will wear a shawl.
Warning about Macys' though. There regular sizes go to 18 but the saleslady said you can never find an 18 (and I searched) and the Women's department starts at size 20.
happily I fit in a 16

See now 16 --- that's not really plus size is it?? You look great Pauline. I was surprised you were asking about plus size dresses but who knows what the meds do, lol.

I'm finally getting out of the 16's (and higher  ), but I did very well at the Talbots outlet in Commack. And BTW - you can FM me and I'll send you pictures of several dresses that I'd be glad to give you.

You all gave me great ideas of places to look for a dress for a wedding I have to attend in 2 weeks. I found something but I am not to thrilled about it so this weekend DH is going to take me to a few places to look for something else.
