2 month old DD sick and I'm scared!!!

My DD got her first round of vaccination shots last Thursday evening. Well, she didn't have a fever aftewards - just was VERY sleepy and not herself on Friday and into Saturday. She then had diarrhea on Sunday and was irritable last evening - I fed her before bed and she seemed irritable again - like something was bothering her - she then vomited :( She slept 3 hours but then would wake up as if something hurt her - and was whining/crying - so sad! She had a 100.4 fever this morning so I called the doc and we went in - he thinks it's a virus and not the shots since the fever appeared a few days later.

I'm a first time mom and am so nervous - I also get anxious bc if we don't sleep I'm afraid I'll collapse and won't be capable of taking care of her - the nerves aren;t a good thing - I need to be strong for DD :( I hate seeing her feel like this!

I now know how my mom felt all those times we were sick :( Any advice on how to stay strong?

I hope your little one feels better soon! I have no advice b/c so far (knocking on wood) my DD is 4 months and has not been sick. I really havent had to call the Dr. yet. I would freak also and know the time is ticking until I have to deal with her being sick. Since I haven't been there yet, my best advice for staying strong is you just have to. Think of your DD and how she feels. Sleep can wait. You and your DH have to take turns getting up to help her feel better. Sleep when you can. Forget housework and perhaps do take out to take some of the burden off you. Hold her a lot and comfort her.

I am so sorry! Perhaps when I have to go through this you can give me some advice on how you handled this situation!

Good Luck!

Here's some feel better dust!

My advice for staying strong is to just sort of deal with everything as it comes. She won't remember being sick when she is 18, so just give her some tylenol and comfort her as best you can. If you don't sleep, you will be fine! Your body can do amazing things on very little sleep! Just take a deep breath when it all gets to be too much and relax. I think anxiety makes you feel worse, worrying about what might be is harder than dealing with what is.

Those are my words of wisdom, having said that, I have just been puked on by a 5 month old! Relax. Those are my words of wisdom.

I hope you all feel better soon!

her fever seems to have gone down Chat Icon

for those who have children that have had fevers........do they sleep a lot after the fever breaks - I'm assuming it may take a lot out of them and tire them out, right?

thanks for all of your hugs! Chat Icon
