Re: how does one "surface clean" toys?
I just wipe things down with a lysol wipe occasionally.....anything soft I usually do throw in the wash.

and WHY can't we throw these toys in the washing machine
I DO throw them in the machine and they turn out fine. Gentle cycle and cool dryer.
