It seems like a topic is posted and then little coversations between people TAKE OVER the post.

I used my thread last night as an example...
it got hijacked.....and probably it is better off
the thread was kinda a sleeper
that is a BIG reason why some go silly..
the thread is just BORING so some turnt hat frown upside down

It does get a little annoying when people hijack someone else's thread with a personal conversation full of inside jokes that only they can understand.
It's not that difficult to create a new thread....or FM the person.

i almost never see it happen with the 'Serious' issue threads- i think people know when it important to stick to the topic. but everything else.... well, it just follows the natural progression of a conversation, and to me, i would think that that was the purpose of a 'chat' board, anyway.
i've had my threads hijacked- and i just restated the question to bring the discussion back to it. i've seen many people do that- they understand that conversations are going to ensue when you put a whole bunch of women together. Yeah, and i've also hijacked my Own threads and went completely off topic with them
ETA- i was sitting here thinking about it... and i'm stuck. If theres no conversations, then What should go on the thread? Just post your quick response and then leave immediately?  Because then you have those posters that only get a few short responses, and then they start the "How come i dont have as many responses to MY threads" threads. So, we're all wrong no matter what we do  Tough crowd

Neen, of course there needs conversation but it is all the "side conversations" that poke fun at the post or posters and then a few people start their own little conversation that has nothing to do with the post. Once in a while someone draws attention back to the original topic, but the post gets taken over by a few people having a conversation. It is VERY annoying, maybe not to a handfu of people, but to the rest of us it is tiresome.

i hear ya. and i miss alot during the week, but if threads go on like that, i just stop reading them, to be honest. They don't bother me, like dpli said- i just lose interest and move on.

I was going to post about conversations as well... When you have a converstation, sometimes other things come off... it's just the natural flow of things. Sometimes people do spinoffs, sometimes they don't.
Honestly, hijacks don't bother me.
