Question about baby movements

Does anybody know or have an opinion regarding whether the movements in the third trimester are deliberate versus reflexive? I mean does the baby know it needs to stretch its arm or leg? Or are they more like twitches? Just curious about all the movements I've been feeling lately (26 weeks).

I would say deliberate but I haven't researched it. It felt like stretching and they would move toward/away from an area of my belly if my husband put his warm hand on my stomach or it there was a light shined on my belly.
