stick a wire hanger down there and see whats blocking it - its nasty, but sometimes you can pull up hair, especially if you have long hair.

Re: I need some good home remedies on unclogging my Bathtub!

If you have a snake (very long wire) you can snake it down the drain to try to clear it up.

Last year our plumber suggested getting drains cleaned out professionally 1x per year. he said Draino/liquid plumber are horrible for drains.

He also said to use less soap than suggested on things like the washing machine and the dishwasher. You don't need as much as what the suggested amount it - it only increases build up and clogs.

If you can make sure to buy a drain cover for you hair so that doesn't get clogged. Bed Bath and Beyond sells them. It's just a catch that sits over the drain, and you can empty it into the garbage after the shower.

I also run the HOT HOT HOT water after I am done showering or after I do the dishes just to make the soap all wash down.

Don't throw anything down the toilet either - paper towels, tampons, baby wipes, cigarette butts.

Hope that helps! I've had to mop up the main trap in my house on 3 occassions. I do ANYTHING to avoid basement waste flooding Chat Icon

Yes, pull out what you can see & then pour vinegar & baking soda down the drain. It will fizz up, let it settle & wash it down with very hot water.

I used to do this all the time, when Draino was too expensive for me.

1/2 cup each--pour the baking soda first, it wont' all go down, then wash it down with the vinegar. It helps , but not as great as draino. I used to do it between draino purchases.
