I feel a bit weird now
Last mothers day 2 of my SILs and MIL and me got $100 gift certificate to a spa salon and we were all supposed to go together and get pampered
Well we never did and the gc expired last month and I didnt know it....so my BIL calls today and says SIL is going with her sister today and they made appointments weeks ago and the lady at the salon said they could use them if they come today so he asked DH if he could come and get mine and give it to SILs sister so it doesnt go to waste so I said ok but I was disappointed that I couldnt use it
so I called the salon and the woman said NO PROBLEM that its still valid and to make an appt. so I called BIL and told him that me and my DD and other SIL were gonna go and I am sorry that I wouldnt be giving her my gc.
Now I feel all uncomfortable and weird that I said they could have it and then 10 minutes later I said they couldnt

honeslty I wouldnt feel weird, unless I read your post wrong, they were taking the gift back? either way if you can use go ahead. were they buying it off you?

the gift was from MY DH to me anyway
and SILs got them from their DH and MIL got it from all of us

He should feel weird for asking you. If someone else could use the GC later then he would know that you could do the same. My DH would be p*ssed if I gave my gift away.

Don't feel bad, if someone offered it to me, then decided to use it for themselves, I would just think, "Oh well! Almost got lucky!" But I wouldn't be mad.

It was wrong for him to ask for it in the first place (unless they made some offer like "we'll give you the $100 in cash in exchange for the GC)
Sounds like they just wanted you to hand over $100 bucks. Scr@w that!

Besides, his reasoning was "so it wouldn't go to waste" and it's not - you're using it. If they make a stink about it just turn it back on them, saying you felt that they put you on the spot and after hanging up, realized that it was a gift intended for you and if it was still valid then it was only right that you use it, not give it away.

I would be annoyed not just 'cause of the above, but because you were "all supposed to go together" yet they made plans without you...
