BTDT Moms ~ Ear Piercing
We were thinking about piercing DD ears... When did you have them done and what were you reasoning's for doing so?

we had them done by our pediatrician at 4 months becuase we were told now or 1 year is the best time plus i wanted them done for her christening which was at 5 months old.

I just did them at the ped office last week Brianna turned 6 months on the 28th of June. They want you to wait my ped told me until they get the first DTaP shot.. I did them because Brianna won't remember if it hurt or not and if she doesn't like them when she gets older she can choose not to wear any.

I got Julia's done at 3 months, when the Doctor said it was ok too. I wanted them done early cause she doesn't know where her ears are yet, so she wouldn't play with them and get them infected. Now 9 months later they are all healed, and I'm able to put different ones it, which I haven't done yet, need to buy new ones.
I'm just glad I did it now, I have heard some stories about some mom's that waited till there daughters where older, and they ended up getting infected, cause they played with them to much.

Our dr. said the same about the shot. He recommended an ENT Dr. that does it. My FIL will do it for me (he's a jewler).

What I meant by what were you reasoning's for doing so, I was asking why you had them pierced? When I tell people we want to pierce our DD ears, I hear comments as why would put put holes in an innocent childs ear, let her decide if and when she wants them, it looks tacky for a baby to have earrings, etc and so on...

I tell everyone that it's MY child and I don't want her to remember it and there is less chance of them getting infected because she doesn't even know they are there. Also if she really doesn't want them she can ALWAYS take them out..

Tell everyone to mind there own business, its your DD and if you want to pierce her ears you can! If she wants them out when shes older, she can take them out. Simple as that!

Had my DD done at 7 months. I cried more then her. I had her's done now because they don't bother her and she doesn't even know that they are there. I would do it earlier if i ever have another girl. She cried for one sec and then was laughing like nothing happened.

I jsut did DD right after her 2nd birthday I got them done at Piercing Pagoda in the mall it was very clean and I had two girls do them at the same time.. she cried for only a second

I don't see the logic of this argument. I can't say that I know any females without pierced ears. Tell them to mind their own beeswax
If this baby is a girl I will e getting them pierced as well

My pediatrician will do it in her office after 4 mos. I think it looks pretty and it's an italian thing( I think Spanish too) although I will only put in studs right now, no guinea hoops  I have heard mixed reviews in getting them pierced.....Alot of moms want to wait until their DD asks for it and go together. To each his own........

Same here. I had a lot of problems with ear piercing and remember it being painful even when I was older and got my second hole so when it is something she wants I will let her do it.
Also out here in CO I don't think you really ever see baby girls with there ears pierced, it's just not something people do.
