First Birthday Party.. Food/Drinks? Is this ok??

Hi my friends,

Ok, first of all I want to thank you so much for all your responses re: what food/drinks and how much to serve at Ava's party. DH and I spent time this morning reading over all your suggestions. This is what we are considering.

We are having 55 adults and about 17 children.

Here is the list:

5 - 24 packs of water
4 cases of beer
various bottles of wine
Juice boxes for kids
5 - 12 packs of canned soda, plus extra 2 liter bottles that I have been stocking up on these past two weeks

Appetizers:

Chips and dip, pretzels, spinach dip, veggie platter, olives, pepperoni and cheese

Food:

2 6 foot heros (one italian/one american)
Tray of Ziti
Trays of Sausage and Peppers
Tray of Penne Alla Vodka
Potatoe salad
Macaroni Salad
Hamburgers
Hotdogs

Desert:
Cake
Cookies
Fruit

Please be honest with me. Does this sound good? Will it be enough??

TIA,
Denise

Everything sounds awesome!! It sounds like you have it all under control. I think it'll be fine. We had about fifty people for my daughters first bday and about five children. We had two heros, sausage and pepper and a tray of eggplant parm. Along with chips and such and we had PLENTY. We had left overs for the next few days. Enjoy!

Thanks so much. :) Did you have two 6 ft. heros.

Oh, I know I will have leftovers. People don't eat a lot in July..

It looks like ALOT of food! Can you get away w/ not grilling?

I'm having roughly the same amt of ppl and I'm not doing the burgers/dogs. I'm getting 10 feet of heros, having 3 or 4 hot trays + a tray of chicken nuggets/fries for the kids. We'll also have cold salads, green salad and *maybe* crudite.

ETA: IMO, I think you can eliminate the pepperoni and cheese, too.

I had a six foot hero of American/Italian and then I bought a 3 foot of Italian. Everyone in my family loves Italian. Plus all the salads.

Thanks,

I am just afraid someone will be looking for a hamburger/or hotdog. I would rather not do hamburgers or hotdogs because someone has to man the grill.

Are you doing 4 full trays or 4 half trays?

Are you cooking it or having it catered??

Sorry for all the questions.

Thanks,
Denise

One more thing,

Can you recommend a place to get the heros. I live in Babylon and we are having the party at my sister's house.

She lives in Lindenhurst.
Thanks.

4 full trays. Don't do the grilling, no one will miss it. You may have to throw some chicken nuggets in the oven for the kids b/c they might not eat the hero/hot food.

Cooking? Me? Chat Icon We're catering through Iavarone in Wantagh (I'm in Seaford). Their food is outstanding! I'm not sure if they deliver to Lindenhurst, though.

ETA: Do you have any vegetarians? I have a few so I'm getting a 3 ft veggie hero (also getting a 4 ft Italian and 3 ft American). You may not need 12 feet of hero... you probably could get away with 10 feet.

BTW, you could have the "letter" heros made since AVA is a short name! Chat Icon I don't need enough to spell KEVIN, so I can't do it, but I just think it's so cool!

Sounds excellent. I just threw a party and I wound up buying too much alcohol...

We used Jensen's in W. Babylon for our son's christening and will probably use them for his 1st b-day (which I have to get working on).

My DH is afraid that the place will skimp on the meat and cheese in the hero. We had that happen to use once.

How was the heros?

I had about 50 people there and I bought 4 cases of beer. I came home with 1 and a half cases. Most people drank Coors Lite in the plastic bottles, as well as the Mike's Hard Drinks.

Ok, But you still had other beer (in the plastic containers) that they drank.

We are just going to get 4 cases of beer. I have about 20 drinkers. I don't think I am going to bother with the Mikes hard lemonade. Make my life easier just to get beer. Do you think that will be enough (4 cases). Once again we are having 55 people, but only really 20 are beer drinkers, I will also have wine, soda, water, juices. Maybe do some pina coladas?

We ordered a cold buffet and they gave us a lot of food but just enough for everyone with a little leftover.

No, I won't... I can't. My head will explode. :) It is already ready to explode with all this. I get so nervous with party planning, but it always works out, doesn't it! :) I am just not good at this sort of thing.

THANK YOU ALL FOR YOU HELP!!!!!! :))) IT MEANS SOOO MUCH TO ME!

Sounds good to me. The only thing I would probably not get is the pepperoni & cheese (especially if it's an outside party). The cheese & pepperoni tend to get rubbery in the summer.

Ok,

Here is what we decided on. Appetizers:

Chips/Dip, pretzels, veggie platter, mozzarella and tomatoes

Food:

2 6 ft heros
1 1/2 tray Baked Ziti
1 tray Sausage and Peppers
1 1/2 tray Chicken Franchese

8 lbs Potatoe Salad
Macaroni Salad
4 lbs cole saw

Regular Salad

Desert:
Cookies, Cake and Fruit Platter

What do you all think?? Should I do more, is this good?
