Is a Growth Sono and Level II the same?

My dr gave me a prescription for a growth sono so i can find out the sex, since they coudn't tell for sure at my level II.

I thought this was different than a level II, but when I called NSU Manhasset to schedule it, I said I had to come in for a growth sono and the lady said Oh a level II, your coming in late for this. I told her my prescrip. said a growth sono and asked if that was the same as a level II and she said it was.

Aren't they 2 different things???

At my Level II, they were unable to get a precise measurement of my baby's femur so they sent me for a growth sono (at NS too) and it's indeed a Level II.. I asked the technician at NS why the same tech who did mine at my dr's office couldnt' just redo it and he said that it was because they are more properly trained to see/get what they are looking for especially being that all they do all day is sonos. i believe the level II is classified as a biophysical sono vs. growth. i just learned this recently when i had to schedule a growth but the dr. wanted it to be bipophysical instead. the growth takes measurements and estimates size, whereas the biophysical is more thorough and checks for additional items like movement, breathing, blood flow, etc.

Our Level 2 was at 20 or 21 weeks and our Growth sono was at 36 weeks, but in terms of what got done they seemed roughly the same. The level two was checking development of organs whereas for the growth sono they were actually measuring things and told us the weight of the baby, etc.
