UPDATE to DH's work gift/ nasty email situation
That woman tried to get everyone together to present the gift to the owners. DH and I still don't even know what the gift is.
The owners are a married couple, but only the wife came in today.
After she was presented with the gift she stated, "There are people in New Orleans without homes. I can't accept this." And then she went home!
So, now the email beyotch is trying to figure out what to do with the gift
(nudge nudge, wink wink: how bout returning the gift and refunding everyone's money?)

Good for your DH's boss.
If I was that woman (that bought the gift), I would return it - get the money and donate to the Katrina victims and then let your DH's boss know that is what they have done with the money.
I know it would be nice to get the money back, but now she will think twice about buying gifts - at least I hope

I totally agree here.... what a fool. She should have donated the money collected (since she insisted on doing something) from the word go.
This would have earned her more butt lickin' points.....
"We wanted to get you and ? something very special to welcome you into your new (ahem $1 million dollar) home but knowing what caring generous folks you are, we have donated the money to the red cross to help others get back into their homes"

I completely agree.
That woman must've felt like an azz. And she definitely sounds like she was just interested in sticking her nose where the sun don't shine.
