What books to you rec'd about adoption?

I read "20 things adopted children wish their parents knew" and "Adoption is a family affair" so far. I have "I vanilla, Your choclate" to read next.

Let's talk about what we are reading. Do you feel that you agree with what is written about adoptions and future issues?

I do worry that as a teen my child will go thru a huge idenity crisis but I worry about that with Molly too.

Oh Geez, I think I've read every book on the market. Sometimes I just go to Borders and sit in the parenting aisle reading for hours on end (and sometimes I actually buy them, too ). I haven't found many too books on Korean Adoption, and would like to write one myself. I actually order books from all libraries around Suffolk County bc they are so limited in what they have on adoption and so many of the books are outdated. I also find most of the books very redundant. Sometimes I get freaked out when I read the "What to Expect After You Adopt" books, but the same could be said for bringing any baby home.

I haven't read anything...do I need to? (is that a dumb question?) Does anyone have any books I can borrow? I have read a lot on-line and maybe I should go and check out borders and the library? And I am a READER, I read allll the time.

Honestly, most of the stuff that's written in adoption books is online, as well, but I prefer to be on information overload bc I am neurotic. There's a book I took out from the library that's called something like Adopting from China and Korea or something...you may want to take that one out...

I personally like reading the personal stories.

Building the Bonds of Attachment - by Daniel Hughes is a Must Read no matter what age your child will be when he/she comes home. The story is fiction but is a composite of Hughes' experience dealing with children and families suffering from RAD. Its not the easiest read but trust me you will find this book helpful at some point.

Attaching in Adoption by Deborah Gray is also good. Gray brings you through the different phases of attachment and discusses where problems may arise.

There is SOOO much out there for China adoption. I get so jealous because there is even a Big Bird goes to China DVD.

I do have 2 children's book to give to the baby and one is called My brother is William..it is about brothers who are different races.
