FINDING OUT THE SEX

How many of you found out the sex of your baby before giving birth? And if so do you think it spoiled the surprise for you and your family?

Re: FINDING OUT THE SEX

I had to know what the baby was so I could plan the nursery. I can't wait for my Chat Icon to be born in less than 6 weeks!

We found out we're having a Chat Icon and couldn't be happier. For us it will not ruin the surprise at all. We can't wait to meet our son and see who he looks likeChat Icon

This is going to be my first child- I don't think anything could ruin the surprise of having a new baby. I definitely want to know if its a boy or girl. Not to mention, I am sure there will be enough surprises- being my first labor and all.

Re: FINDING OUT THE SEX

We want to know the sex, but we are still on the fence about the surprise part. Dh and I are on the fence about him having his moment to come out and tell our friends and family if it's a boy or girl. But we are both planners, so who knows, I have plenty of time to decide for sure.

Re: FINDING OUT THE SEX

Totally think this depends on personal perference..

We choose to find out...and if or when we have more..I will find out all over again..

That day in itself was special...and such a great surprise..

To me the day you give birth..you'll get the real surprise of seeing what your baby looks like..No one can take that away!

We found out and there was no way I could go the whole 9 months without knowing.

I don't feel like it ruined the surprise. Everyone was dying to know and it was a lot of fun for us to get the family involved in the nursery decorating.

I did not find out for my fist. It didn't matter to me, we did the nursery in a neutral tone and just waited.

Now that I am PG with my second, we will be finding out, only because there are so many logistics to figure out, room wise and such.

Re: FINDING OUT THE SEX

I didn't find out and I was happy I did things that way.

We were having some inlaw issues at the time and a very selfish part of me wanted me and my husband to be the only ones to know his/her identity in their first moments on earth. I was afraid that if MIL or even my grandmother knew what I was having, there would be too many chefs in the kitchen; deciding names, etc.

I also had a problem with the fact that my husband's SIL (sorry folks, I can't ever accept that creature as MY SIL) kept referring to her children by their names before they were born, like they were in the room (call me superstitious) and she was all kinds of disappointed when she discovered she was having another boy. It was like he already had all these expectations held against him or something. His cousin set up an email account, so you could send the baby girl emails. Cute, but not for me.

On the flip side, my sister found out with all three and we couldn't have been happier for them and the babies.

For me, I already knew in my heart I was having a girl...I would have been in some serious shock if it was a boy. I just felt so connected to her while I was pregnant.

I guess I just like a cliffhanger...that moment when the doctor announces "It's a ....."

Re: FINDING OUT THE SEX

With Andrew we HAD to know right away! With this pregnancy I want to be surpised in the delievery room! I want a little extra movitation with the pushingChat Icon It would be nice to know in a way, because of planing the room arrangements, but the baby will sleep in our room in a bassientt for at least 3 months anyway so DH will have plenty of time to paint and rearrange bedrooms with Andrew if needed. Andrew's room is very boyish with a Yankee mural on the wall, but it's the smaller room of the 3 extra bedrooms. Rob and I feel if we're have another boy the new baby will get smaller rooom and Andrew will move into the larger room. If it's a girl she get the larger bedroom from the begining.
