The internet is a terrible place... - Update at bottom

Of course stupid me decided to do some research on my anterior placenta, previous C/S and placenta growing into the uterus thing I may have going on. None of it looks promising. Hemmoraging, needing transfusions, hysterectomies, death... why do I torture myself? I know my placenta is in the front. I know it's not close to my cervix (the sono tech told me so, it's not previa so that is a huge plus) but I have no idea how close a C/S incision is to the cervix so here I have to sit and wait until 30 weeks when I get my sono to find out how bad it will really be. Please pray that it has not grown into my scar and that it is moving away from it like a good little placenta. Thanks.

Re: The internet is a terrible place...

With my recent PG my placenta was anterior the whole time and I had a previous c/s and all was perfectly fine. I didn't have the placenta growing into the uterus thing though.

At the halfway mark the placenta was within 2cm of my cervix but by my next sono which was at 27 weeks it moved up on it's own.

I'm sure everything will turn out fine! Chat Icon

I wish I could give you some advice. I agree the Internet should be banned when you are PG for all the things you find!!! Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon

Re: The internet is a terrible place...

When I had a gynecologicazl issue a few years ago, my gyno told me specifically "DO NOT GO ON THE INTERNET! THE INTERNET WILL TELL YOU WRONG THINGS!!!" Of course, I did, and she was right - but I knew what I was doing when I looked - I wanted to see how dooms day the nfo would be - and it was.....

the internet has no empirical facts. Even if the claim they do, you hasve no idea where the data is from, or if it is accurate!

Get off the internet (except to come here, of course!) Chat Icon

The internet is scary but if you really need good medical info, go to medline plus. It is the government's medical website and not just random doctors' opinions.

I agree, I torture myself too with looking up things on here. I am sorry I don't know anything about the condition you mentioned, but to ease your worry, wait until you speak to your dr.

hugs to you ! Chat Icon

Re: The internet is a terrible place...

I tell everyone this:

It's your job to take care of yourself, and your doctor's job to worry and prevent potential problems - that's why they train for so long (with books, not the internet). Your worrying will do nothing good and will stress you out.

Take care of yourself!Chat Icon

Re: The internet is a terrible place...

i did the same when they spotted a tumor onm the baby's brain in my uterus...researched and scred the crap out of myself....and then I realized, until I knew there was really something to worry about, i shouldn't....(granted it took a week but still! Chat Icon )- they should automatically block sites with info when you are preggers - it scares you even more...

I hope everything will be fine, try not t9o focus on it! Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon

Re: The internet is a terrible place...

After a late night of OMG last night I decided to take it as it comes. IF I have this than I will deliver at Stonybrook where they can have everyone the need standing by if God forbid anything bad should happen. Im just going to stay positive and hope that this placenta moves up toward my nose and far far far away from my incision!!! Any prayers would be GREATLY appreciated cause the whole thing scares the sh*t out of me!!
