Dog training....

I know there is a pet board...I posted on there, but only got 2 replies...I need more advice.

Our puppy is about 7 months old....I think we should send him for some training. He's a pretty good dog, but when people come into the house, he jumps all over them trying to lick them and play.

I called around...and there are classes we can go to, or we can have someone come to the house.

The question is...if we take a class, only me or DH can go, not both...because we don't have someone to watch my step-daughter. It's more expensive to have someone come to our house...but in the longrun, would it be better since he will be in his own environment? Opions please.....thanks.

Re: Dog training....

We took our dog to PetSmart for training but I live in NC. It's the same type of store as Petco. It was a lot of fun. My DH couldn't go with me either.

Re: Dog training....

We had a similar issue - we couldn't both go to the classes with him.

DH and I alternated going to the classes and made sure to teach each other what we went over when we got home. Most Dog Trainers will want you to practice during the week anyway.

I recommend a group setting too - it gets your pup used to playing with other dogs.

Good luck!!
