we painted first so we didn't have to worry about getting paint on the new floor!

We were told to paint first. Though I will say we did have a few spots on the molding we had to touch up- no biggie though

we did the floors first, and THEN painted. you CANNOT imagine the amount of sawdust that accumulated on all the walls after we had the floors refinished!!!

Paint with a very good paint... Benjamin Moore preferably then wood floors. Yes, you will have to wipe to walls down with a damp rag but it beats trying to get stray paint up off the floors and ruining the brand new finish.

I have to say our company was AMAZING with the clean up. The only thing I had to to really clean was one wall and I threw out the cheap mini blinds the previous owners had left up. Everything else was SPOTLESS. I went over it with a swiffer and it was clean- like I said except for this one area on one wall

But the company told us you really should paint first. This way if you get any paint on the floor they will get it up when they refinish them. If you paint after and get it on the floor- like my DH did in one room- it's not pretty

I would say paint first...just in case the floors get ruined!

I'd prime and do a first coat - then have the floors done - then do a final coat. That's what I did, but (like Julz) I had new floors installed (and didn't want to deal with knicks and dents that occur in installation).

Paint first and dont do the floors until the paint is completely dry.

I don't know if it matters....but my parents are getting new carpet and painting. The painter told them to put the carpet down first....and paint second. He said that when the move the furniture and stuff, they might bump the walls and scratch the new paint....he said it would be easier for him to cover the carpet then to come back and touch up the paint.

Funny that this question was asked because I was just going to ask it. DH has been calling flooring people that you ladies recommended and the people he spoke to said to do the floors first, then paint BECAUSE of the dust.

I say paint first - we painted when we first moved in then just two months ago had the floors done. The people we used were great - All I did was wipe the walls down with a swiffer - harder any dust - glad we don't have to paint now, would be to worried about paint on the floor

same here. The person who did our floors said to paint first.
