Just before her 1st birthday and we really had no signs or crankiness at all so we had no idea they were coming through until we saw them break through the skin.

Emily didn't get her first tooth until 9/1 which was when she was 11 months!!! Chat Icon

As far as signs watch out for drool, change in eating/sleep patterns, rubbing their ears, and even sometimes a slight diaper rash.

For us she teethed on and off for about 6 months with all of those symptoms and then showed barely any of them the week she cut her tooth. Now that the tooth is in she's showing signs of teething again!

My 2 older kids were both around 6 months. My 4 1/2 month old is drooling like crazy and chewing whatever he can get his mitts on. Ive found that doesnt mean a tooth is coming soon, sometimes they take awhile to show up, even when the symptoms of teething are there. Ive been blessed with good teethers (so far *crosses fingers*) neither of them had noticable crankiness or pain like some babies exhibit.

Re: when did your baby start getting teeth?

Kaylee started cutting teething at a month and a half. I was in shock. Then at 3 1/2 months she had 2 teeth and 2 more on the way. Now she is 13 months and has 18 teeth and last 2 k-9s are cutting through. The Dr. was in shock at her last visit. I asked him when does it end. He said 20 teeth by two is normal.

Kaylee would not eat when she was teething, she was cranky, not sleeping, everything went in her mouth and she would rub her gums on anything she could. Also she would not sleep. (She still is doing all of these things.) Good luck. Chat Icon

Katherine did not get her first tooth until 9/17--so 12 months!! Now at 13 mos., it's still only that one!

To be honest, and maybe it's because she was such a late teether, I did not notice any symptoms. I guess I'm glad it took so long then!

I think a lot of us are quick to point to "teething" as the source of a lot of baby distress when maybe it's just normal baby crankiness. I know every time Katherine would be in a mood, my DH always said, "Maybe she's teething." In any case, if anything, for us it was very mild.
