Mom's who had baby before due date???

My doctor is trying to hold off on inducing me until 2 weeks before my actual due date. I am 34 1/2 weeks pg. THey may have to take her this week because they are affraid she is not gaining enough weight because i have high blood pressure. My question is how early were you and how big was your little one? Also were they put in NICU?

For me, they were able to hold off until 36/37 weeks until they induced the labor

My boy was born @ 6 pounds and 13 ounces

He was not in NICU at the time of his birth. The Dr. had spoken of the need of a NICU Dr. if he had gone any earlier, but they were able to hold out...

I was only 3 weeks early (naturally not induced). Kevin was 7lbs 2 oz. He was in the NICU for hypoglycemia (I had gestational diabetes) and to watch his heart (but that was fine - just a functional heart murmur) for 5 days until it was better. Good Luck - hope they hold off as long as possible and your little baby gains the weight it needs!

There was a 5.5-6 week early baby in the NICU with Kevin and she was a little over 5lbs! She was doing great!

I was two weeks early (not induced) and my son was 5lbs 5oz. My doctor wasn't sure if there were any issues but it turns out I just make small babies. He did not have to spend any time in NICU, but they did have to check his sugar several times while he was there.

He will be three months old on Wednesday and is now over 12 lbs! Just because your baby may be small doesn't mean there will be problems.

I was supposed to be induced at 38 weeks, but my water broke at 35 weeks to the day. Cole was 5 pounds 13 ounces and healthy! We did have the neonatologist present at delivery, but there was no need for the NICU.

I went to the doctor today and they said she is now 4 lbs 10 oz. She has gained some weight which is a good thing. THey are still planning on inducing me at 38 weeks if everything goes as planned. (nothing in my PG has gone this way but we'll see). I am just hoping for a healthy baby that i can bring home. Everytime i turn around i feel like there is another problem or different opinion. I never knew that being PG was so complicating and confussing. Thanks for the help.

Andrew was born at 35.0 weeks he was 7lbs1oz. Thankfully, his lungs were developed and was only in the NICU for about 90 minutes for observation.

Are you having a boy or girl? They say girls lungs mature faster than boys, which from my experience as NICU RN it seems to be true. Our cousin had her daughter at 34 weeks because of PIH and she was fine. Small but fine (5lbs) No respiratory problems, however her mother did receive steriods to help with lung development.

Yes I am having a little girl. She is one big drama queen. I went into false labor this weekend and then when I went to the doctor they said that she is gaining weight so they want to keep a close eye on her and see what happens. THey do a sono every week and also a stress test. I feel like I live at the doctors. She is doing really well considering all of the ups and downs. The doctors still want to take her early just in case so if she doesn't come on her own before 38 weeks I am scheduled for a c-section that Monday. We'll see what happens. Thanks for all of your help.
