How do you save money?

long story short they just raised my rent and im trying sooo hard to pay off my credit card bill on top of that--PLUS i am saving money for amuch needed vaca over the summer..

i am sitting down and going over my finances so i can do some serious financial damage..

i have decided to:
STOP getting my nails done
switch gyms so I can get a much lower rate
get rid of the cable/hbo in room #2
possibly lower my cell phone plan (depending on what my contract says)

any1 have other ideas on how to cut costs until i get my self out of some debt?!

Look at all the extras you spend on...clothing, going out to eat/bars, etc. I'm sure there are things that you can cut back.

My mother always taught me to pay myself first...meaning when I get my paycheck, save a certain amount for myself, and then start paying bills. Even if it's a small amount $25-$50/week. This way you have some savings for when you want to splurge, like on vacation or something.

Use coupons at the grocery store.
Eat breakfast at home.
Bring lunch to work.
Don't buy coffee, which adds up.
Go longer in between haircuts.

I stopped going every 2 weeks to get my nails done, now I do it like 1 a month.

My hair def I cut back, I go longer now.

going out to eat was a biggie, and lunch- I now bring food to work and eat at home. Once in awhile we will go out.

I now use coupons grocery shopping.

save money, what is that?

well, now we are in the poor house cuz we own a house, FH and I started bring our lunch to work, try to buy only neccessities (no more designer bags for me! ), bundle up at home so we don't have to turn the heat up too high for the whole house, and less eating out

Do you have a second bedroom? Could you move to a one bedroom or have a friend share the apt.? I cut down on eating out and bring lunch to work, which really adds up.
