Opinions/Advice on TTC and Baby Clothing
Sorry couldn't find a better way to title it.
Today I went out with an old coworker for lunch. During lunch she was talking about how she and her DH are going to start TTC. Yay - very happy for her! After lunch we walked past a GAP and she wanted to go in. We wandered over to the baby section - cool - and then she picked some things up. I am really superstitious so I was kind of nervous excited for her.
So that leads me to ask - what are your opinions on buying baby clothes before you TTC?

I can't tell you how many times I have been close doing that. But I am superstitious and as much as I want to, I will not buy any baby clothes. The only thing I did buy was a grandpa and grandma bib. I have it under my bed. I thought I would have been able to give it to them by now.

its funny b/c someone i know is PG, and is in my wedding in 4 months. she was "afraid" for me to call the salon about the dress b/c she didn't want to jinx anything. but i did and she was okay with everything.
but as far as outfits and all that goes, until she "comes out" i won't.
and if i was ttc, i would not be buying any clothes..just be a little too far ahead of myself, you know

I am not superstitious at all. Dont believe in it.
However, I also would not buy baby clothes before even conceiving. I would at least wait until I was pregnant. So I think that is jumping the gun way to early in the game for someone who is TTC.

I am way too superstitious to do that too. I wouldn't even buy anything for my baby until just a couple weeks ago and i still wasn't comfortable doing it since she's not here yet.

I am/was too - never ever would allow myself to buy any baby stuff before I conceived. And even now that I am PG again, I am still very superstious about buying things for the baby before he/she is born ..

i dont think i'd buy anything till a month b4 the baby is due, let alone b4 I TTC.... I'd be in for severe depression if the TTC became a BFN

I often look and maybe even touch a few things... the little shoes... oh, I can't believe their tiny feet
but no, no way. It's jinxing things too much, especially since we've been at this one year this month.

People in my culture generally do not bring anything home for a baby until the child is born. Furniture and layettes are chosen and ordered (in both sexes if you dont know what you are having) but not delivered. Once the layette is delivered or picked up, someone else always washes them so they are ready for the child. Any gifts given to the parents for the child are kept elsewhere until the child comes home. I would never bring anything into my home until the baby gets there. Waaaay too superstitious.

I was PG and m/c back in January. My husband was soooo excited at X-mas time, he bought these cute rattles, etc. When I m/c seing all those things in the house was sooooo difficult (I actually think I threw them in the garbage in one of my rages). After that I will NEVER buy baby stuff until at least after the first trimester, and even then I'll prob. still be a little superstitious.
