Cost of wall to wall carpeting?
I have NO concept of how much this costs. I know it of course depends on the type of carpet you pick, the size of the rooms, etc. BUT can anyone give me a general idea of what carpeting 2 regular sized bedrooms (say a total of 300 sq ft) would cost? (like $500 or $5,000)

I have no idea what the square footage of the room was - maybe it was 13X18 (or slightly bigger actually) - the carpet cost us $500 even. I think you are probably looking in that range.

The carpet we got was in stock so I think we also got a good deal because of that. It's one of the soft kinds (I have no idea what that's called) -- I wanted something that was nice and soft on our feet!

I just puchased carpeting...for 5 rooms and 2 staircases...a total of about 140 sq yards...it was about 5K.

i just got an estimate from Home Depot today. A 10x12 room, a stairway and small upstairs hallway came to almost $1300. Right now they have 10% off so it would actually come to a little less. For stairs they charge $4 extra per step if it is a regular box step. If the spindles go into the carpet and/or you want the stringers carpeted I think it is $12 or $14 per step. I think average carpet at HD is probably in the range of $3-5 per square foot. Of course I'm sure you could spend more or less if you wanted too. Also it's hard to go by the square footage of the room because there is usually a lot of excess carpet since they have to use one big piece unless you want to have seams. Our 10x12 bedroom ended up being 20 square yards, which I think is equal to 180 square feet.

Try Kelly Carpet in Seaford. My friends used them and they got a really good deal
